Lion Nathan Wine brings together an exceptional collection of wineries from distinguished regions in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. Each highly individual winery shares the same commitment to crafting fine wines with a distinct character and sense of place.
Our role is to introduce these iconic wines and winemakers to a wider, European audience by working hand in hand with importers, sommeliers and journalists to organise fabulous events, tastings and winery visits for those lucky enough to get to the other side of the world.
The Lion Nathan Wine portal offers such a comprehensive source of downloadable information (bottleshots, logos, winemaker profiles, accolades, tasting notes etc etc) that you may not need to contact us, but we’re just an email away should you need anything further.
As a group, Lion Nathan are firmly committed to encouraging environmental efforts in their wineries and in the marketplace, ranging from Mitchelton’s impressive waste water system, to being pionneers in modern packaging with their 2009 launches of a two-litre bag-in-box of premium New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and a range of wines in 75cl multi-layer PET bottles.

Knappstein Wines of Clare Valley South Australia is one of the most recognisable and popular Clare Valley wineries. We are a small producer of premium quality wines, and we manage our own vineyards. Our winery is the historic ‘Enterprise Brewery’ building in the heart of Clare township, deeply connected to the community and cultural life of Clare.
The Knappstein name has been involved in the wine business in Clare since 1895, although our business is a youthful 30years old! The company was founded by Tim Knappstein, who began the business as Enterprise Wines, a name we have utilised for our premium Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard and thus honouring the Knappstein heritage as early winemakers connected with Clare for well over 100 years.

Mitchelton winery was founded in 1973, and to this day remains one of Australia’s most architecturally fascinating wineries.
The Mitchelton tower rises high (55m) above the cellar door giving an inspiring view of the vineyards set on the meander of the pristine Goulburn River. Below ground, running alongside the river, a maze of bricked tunnels form cool and stable cellar conditions for Mitchelton’s wines. Mitchelton has trialed diverse varieties across different locations and soil profiles in Central Victoria and has evolved an understanding of the natural affinity of Shiraz and sibling Rhone varieties with this region.
From 2001 onwards the Mitchelton team has designed year-long viticultural programs tailored to each individual vineyard. These are designed specifically to nurture high quality, low yields, with structure and flavour profiles distinctive of the terroir. At vintage, each parcel of fruit is carefully assessed to determine its profile and importance for inclusion either within a distinctive single varietal wine or as a critical characteristic component within a blend.
St Hallett is dedicated to translating the tapestry of soils and meso-climates of the Barossa in each of its wines. This is made possible by a rich resource of old vines, long-term relationships with growers and the winemakers’ experience and intimate approach to each individual parcel of fruit from the vineyard, through the winery to the final wine. Evolution and innovation, in the pursuit of excellence has been a consistent thread running through St Hallett’s history. Proudly Barossan, St Hallett makes wines which are recognised around the world as benchmarks of the region.

In 1978, Brian Stonier and his wife Noel established the Stonier vineyard in the coastal town of Merricks, one hour South-East of Melbourne and ten minutes from the challenging surf beaches of Bass Straight. Over 28 years later, the name Stonier is widely recognised as a producer of exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
At the heart of Stonier lies a meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking. A desire to reflect the imprint of each site, through subtle variations in flavour and texture, interweaving these differences to form elegant wines of seamless complexity has earned Stonier a place amongst the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers in Australia.
Early vintages were made off-site until the winery in Merricks, designed by Daryl Jackson, was completed in 1991.
Today, Stonier sources Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from over 150 acres across 5 selected sub-regions; Merricks North, Balnarring, Tuerong, Red Hill and at the estate vineyards in Merricks which span over 50 acres.
Tatachilla has been part of McLaren Vale since vines were first planted in 1887 and throughout its rich history it has intuitively understood the potential of this maritime area with its rich soils and cooling sea breezes. Today the bright patchwork of olive groves, avocado orchards and rows of vines impart a Mediterranean flavour to this evolving region.
Tatachilla’s vineyards are scattered amongst the sloping hills and tapered basin of McLaren Vale. The abundant variety of soils encourage a kaleidoscope of flavours, whilst the cooling ocean air and rolling gully winds cool the sun-warmed grapes, allowing them to reach their full flavour potential without over-ripening. Interwoven, this fruit creates wines silky in texture, supple in the mouth and vibrant with rich fruit flavours.
Talented young French winemaker, Fanchon Ferrandi, is leading Tatachilla to its next chapter. With a sweeping international perspective free from cultural rules, her winemaking essence lies in integrating innovation and technology with a healthy regard for the vineyard. Matching innovation with a respect for the past, Fanchon crafts wines which truly express the rich silken fruit qualities that wear the thumbprint of the McLaren Vale.
