Amuse Bouche, UGCCTheir walk-around tasting format, which has already proved successful in London, Moscow, St Petersburg, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and New York, will feature over 45 wines from the seven Grands Crus of Chablis. The tasting will also include a selection of older vintages to illustrate the ageing capacity of these wines.

As UGCC President, Louis Moreau, explains, “Historically, Chablis has enjoyed a privileged relationship with Japan, and all of the members regularly visit the Asian markets, however, this is the first time that we visit Asia as a group, which is very exciting.
We believe that the UGCC tasting offers a fantastic opportunity to taste all of the Grand Cru wines side by side, from different producers, in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the character and complexity of this unique terroir. When we hosted this same tasting in London earlier this year, tasters commented that the difference in “climats” is even more marked in the 2010 vintage, so this is a great way to benchmark Grand Cru Chablis.”

Particularly interesting is his understanding of hygiene in the winery and the vineyards.

Absolutely delighted with this rave review from Matthew Jukes in this week’s MoneyWeek.

Huge thanks to the LFE for a great Open Wine Day (#owd2011) last sunday. Over 300 customers resisted the temptation to stay in their gardens and bask in the late summer sun, and came along to the LFE offices to taste a great selection of wines.
Champagne Moutard’s Cuvée Six Cépages was the undoubted winner on my table, however, the hourly sabering of a magnum of the Grande Cuvée also drew the crowds. Watch here. A fun sunday.
Thanks LFE !
